ACFOMI Immigrant Services (ACFOMI-IS) are offered by the Association canadienne-française de l’Ontario – Conseil régional des Milles-Îles and funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, which means all services are free to the client. ACFOMI-IS assists newcomers to Kingston in their settlement and employment process.

ACFOMI-IS’s goal is to offer quality French services in Kingston Area. If the new comer’s language choice is French, they will be happy to know that they can obtain services in French.  All our services are offered in Canada’s two official languages and we can also serve clients in Portuguese, Spanish and Russian.

Immigrants can contact ACFOMI-SI to schedule an appointment with a Settlement Agent and a Employment Counselor. A complete Resource Centre with computers, Internet access, phones, fax, photocopier and reference documents are at your disposal.

The Settlement Agent provides immigrants with personal accompaniment and representation when searching for information on housing, healthcare, financial, social and legal services and orientation in the community. Also offering assistance in interpretation and translation of documents and forms as well as finding schools for children and adult courses to learn one of the official languages. Counseling and support is given during the entire settlement process.

The Employment Counsellor provides individualized assistance in the creation of cover letters and resumes, active job search, identifying possible employers, preparing for interviews, obtaining information on accreditation for diplomas and supports you step by step during your job search.
